Nilaveli está en la costa este de Sri Lanka, al norte del puerto de Trincomalee. Mar adentro, el fondo no se queda poco profundo mucho tiempo. Esta zona es conocida por una estructura submarina profunda: un sistema de cañones que puede traer agua más fría y rica en nutrientes hacia la superficie.
Esa agua puede sostener plancton, peces pequeños y calamares. Donde se reúne el alimento, a menudo siguen los delfines. Los huéspedes no necesitan una clase de ciencia. Basta una idea práctica: esta costa puede ofrecer vida marina rica en una salida matutina cuando las condiciones lo permiten.

Especies de delfines que puedes ver

Delfines spinner

La especie más vinculada al comportamiento vivo en superficie en esta costa. Son conocidos por saltos con giro. Los grupos pueden ser grandes. Las primeras horas son cuando la alimentación y el desplazamiento suelen notarse más desde un barco pequeño.

Delfines nariz de botella

Familiares para muchos viajeros: en libertad son simplemente salvajes. Sociales, a veces curiosos con los barcos, a veces totalmente indiferentes.

Otra vida marina

En algunas mañanas también puedes notar aves trabajando la superficie, bancos de peces pequeños o, más raro, una tortuga cerca del barco. Las ballenas grandes usan el mismo sistema de agua profunda y alimento, pero una mañana centrada en delfines se queda en la búsqueda de delfines. Un viaje más largo de ballenas es otro plan en la misma costa.

Snorkelling at Pigeon Island and Angel Rock was an incredible and wonderful experience, and Sas and his team were extremely professional and very attentive. At Pigeon Island we saw sharks and turtles – huge ones – as well as colourful fish and beautiful corals. It was so lovely that the next day we went back for the Angel Rock sunrise snorkelling trip – it was incredible. You simply can’t visit Sri Lanka without going on this excursion with this team.

Super cool Tour, awesome tour guides, had a oot of fun. Everything was as they‘ve explained beforehand. 6am you head out to see the whales, they provide ypu water and fruits. They as well really know their stuff, always were at the right spot to actually see the whales
