We don't run this tour from November to January — heavy rain during those months can make the lagoon less accessible and risky, which changes the water conditions and the wildlife you'd normally see.
Outside that window, conditions are good for a calm, unhurried paddle through the mangroves.

Traditional fishermen trap-fishing from wooden boats
Cows crossing the lagoon in the late afternoon
A Fisherman's Cages, Set by Hand
One local mud crab fisherman on this lagoon builds his own crab cages by hand, then sets them out from a wooden kayak, each one marked with a floating buoy so he can find it again.
He leaves them out for around six hours before returning to collect the catch, which goes straight to restaurants in Nilaveli — often on a plate the same day it was caught.

Memories From This Water
This lagoon isn't just a tour stop for us — it's part of growing up here. As a teenager, catching prawns by hand with friends was a normal afternoon, and my mother would cook them the traditional way afterward.
Cast fishing trips with friends usually ended the same way — coming home to a fresh coconut curry made with simple, everyday ingredients. It's a taste I still haven't found anywhere else.

Booking & Cancellation Policy
Same policy as our other tours:
- A 30% advance payment by bank transfer confirms your booking, confirmed once received
- Full refund if you cancel 48 hours or more before your trip
- Partial fee applies for cancellations within 24 hours
- No refund for same-day no-shows
- Date changes need at least 24 hours’ notice
If we postpone due to unsafe weather, you’ll receive a full refund
