For guests who want to go further, our whale watching trip is the next step up from standard dolphin watching — longer, further offshore, and timed around the months whales are actually likely to be here.
⚓ How the Trip Works
Whale watching begins with the same route as our dolphin-watching trip. After enjoying the chance to spot dolphins, we continue further into deeper open waters, where there is a possibility of encountering whales in their natural habitat.
🗓️ Best Time for Whales
Whale sightings are generally more likely during March–April and August–September.
Sea conditions and visibility are often better during these periods. Outside these months, changing winds and rougher conditions can reduce visibility and make whale spotting more difficult.
Whale sightings are never guaranteed, as these are wild animals in their natural habitat.
🤿 Snorkeling With Whales
On our 4–6 hour tour, there may be an opportunity to enter the water and snorkel near whales when weather, sea conditions and safety considerations allow. This experience is included in the package at no additional charge.
🌊 A Note on the In-Between Months
Whale watching is still possible outside the March–April and August–September periods. However, windier and choppier sea conditions can make sightings and overall viewing conditions less predictable.

Dolphins are often seen in season; whales are not on every trip.
In some months you may see dolphins and whales on the same morning if conditions and luck allow — never guaranteed.
Harbour: sperm whale sometimes; blue whale less often. We have seen both — not often, and not promised.
Deep sea: better chance for blue whale and sperm whale — still no guarantee.
We try our best. For deep-sea trips we also ask early deep-sea fishermen for help locating whales when possible.

Whales live far out in the deep sea, not close to the harbour, so even on a dedicated whale watching trip, nothing is guaranteed — we’re heading toward where whales are most likely to be during the season, not to a fixed location where one is waiting. A sighting depends on the whale being there that day.
We tell you this upfront because we’ve had guests arrive expecting a guaranteed sighting, since so many tours on this coast are marketed without this kind of honesty. We’d rather you know exactly what to expect than be disappointed on the day.
Book the dolphin trip if you want a highly reliable sighting. Book the whale trip in March–April or August–September if you want the best realistic chance at something bigger — and treat any sighting as the ocean’s decision, not our promise.
How We Try to Improve Your Chances
We don’t chase whale rumours blindly, and we don’t take guests randomly further offshore just to gamble on a sighting. Before and during the trip, our captain checks in with local fishermen and other boat operators already out on the water that morning.
If someone’s spotted whale activity nearby, we hear about it quickly — this coast runs on that kind of shared, real-time knowledge, and it’s part of how we plan the route on a whale watching morning.
Good to Know Before You Book
Both trips are open-water — if you’re prone to seasickness, take medication about 30 minutes before departure.
Wear light clothing, bring sunscreen and a hat, and expect some sea spray along the way.
Longer whale watching trips (4–6 hours) mean more time in open sun and sea — plan accordingly.
