Whale watching is different from dolphin watching. I always tell my customers the truth and ask them to read my page carefully before they come. The sea does not give the same gift every day.
I love marine beings very much. That is why these moments stay with me for a long time. Here are some of the real stories from my trips.
My Real Whale Memories
Memory 1 – Blue Whale Near Trincomalee Harbour (August 2024 & 2025)
In August 2024 and again in 2025, I went with our customers and we saw a blue whale near Trincomalee harbour. Our customers were so excited. Blue whales normally stay only in the deep sea, but that day we saw one close to the harbour during a normal dolphin watching tour.
It was early morning and we were lucky. The sight was stunning. On that day the water went up in six or seven places because the whales were diving. The surface kept rising and falling. Everyone on the boat just watched in silence. It is a moment I still remember clearly.
Memory 2 – Sperm Whales Playing with Dolphins (September 2026)
In September 2026, for some days we showed sperm whales almost every day near the harbour. They were playing with the dolphins in a beautiful way. We saw sperm whales close to our boat six times. The way they moved together with the dolphins was something special to watch.
I always tell my customers that sperm whales are the ones we mostly see near the harbour. Blue whales are rarer and usually stay farther out. That is the honest advice I give.
Memory 3 – Sperm Whale with Her Babies (Off Season)
In the off season, when I went fishing, I saw a sperm whale with her babies. It was the first time I saw this. The mother stayed close to the young ones. I felt very quiet and happy at the same time. Because I love marine beings so much, this moment became one of my most special memories on the sea.
What I Always Tell My Customers
I never promise a whale. I ask people to visit my page and read carefully. The best chance for whales is usually in the right months, and even then the ocean decides. Sperm whales are the ones we see more often near the harbour. Blue whales are a rare and lucky gift.
